PERSONALITY:
Gus is an extremely responsible individual, and for the most part, he is capable of displaying a lot more maturity than his best friend, Shawn, but he has been known to on occasion be a bit of an ass as well. This sort of thing happens the most frequently when they're working on a case. Gus has a fallback full time job, Gus budgets his money wisely, he owns a car and is never late on his rent. Gus was a hard worker in school, and participated in the local spelling bees until he lost one in 1989. Gus has an extensive and sometimes too flowery vocabulary, he likes to throw a big word into a random sentence, often so he can correct Shawn's assumption about what that word means.
However along with being very intelligent and level headed, Gus also is known for having an extreme fear of anything dead, or undead, and he's fled a crime scene on multiple occasions when there was a body present. Gus is extremely superstitious about ghosts, and despite knowing Shawn tricked him as a kid into believing he had spoken to one, he still shows a level of fear of the supernatural. He also has both displayed a fear of touching foreign blood, and Shawn has called him on an old habit of licking his cuts to "make them feel better".
Gus uses his extensive knowledge of drugs and diseases from his job as a pharmaceutical sales person to help on cases. He's able to identify poisons and the side effects of various drugs, as well as diseases they would be used to treat or cure. He's also shown on numerous episodes that he's a living encyclopedia, and he seems to know a little bit about everything that has ever happened, particularly historically.
ABILITIES: Gus think's he's better at some things (especially stealth) than he really is, but he has a hell of a sense of smell. He can pick out individual elements in just a whiff or two.
CANON POINT: Up to the current point of season four.
WHY HAS YOUR CHARACTER CAUGHT THE EYE OF THE COLLECTOR?:
The Collector has observed Gus' strange hobbies, his expansive knowledge of the world around him as well as his numerous fears of anything that is not safe or living. He's also interested in his ability to piece things together, albeit much more slowly than his partner had. And he feels it would be interesting to see how Gus will adapt in such a place as Colligo. Or if he would be able to live there without having a nervous breakdown.
